What is Chios Mastic?

Mastic is the natural resin of the Pistacia Lentiscus Chia tree. This species only grows on the Greek island of Chios. The resin has been used since ancient times because of the positive influence of the mastic on human health.
Mastic has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect. Today, mastic is used in food supplements, as well as in oral hygiene and skin care products.

Protected, age-old tradition

Mastic has had a European Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) since 1997. Mastic is harvested and processed by hand. This process, which has been passed on within families on Chios for thousands of years, is on the Unesco World Heritage List. In addition, Mastic is also registered with the European Medicin Agency (EMA) for human use. It is mainly used in everyday products for good oral hygiene and skin care and it is used as a dietary supplement to support a good stomach and intestinal function.

What is Inulin?

Inulin is a soluble fiber from the chicory root. It occurs in several roots of plants, but only the inulin from the chicory root is used for the production of Mastic Horse Treatment. Inulin is a prebiotic, the “food” of beneficial bacteria. It not only aids the beneficial bacteria in their development but also helps the digestive system work more efficiently. This in turn ensures a better balance of the intestinal flora, the vital factor of a healthy digestive system. In summary, inulin therefore supports normal intestinal function.
